Inhaler/Accuhaler/Nebule: Adverse events are listed as follows by system organ class and frequency. Frequencies are defined as: Very common ( 1/10), common ( 1/100 and 1/10), uncommon ( 1/1,000 and 1/100), rare ( 1/10,000 and 1/1,000) and very rare ( 1/10,000) including isolated reports. Very common and common events were generally determined from clinical trial data. Rare and very rare events were generally determined from spontaneous data.

Immune System Disorders: Very Rare: Hypersensitivity reactions including angioedema, urticaria, bronchospasm, hypotension and collapse.

Metabolism and Nutrition Disorders: Rare: Hypokalaemia. Potentially serious hypokalaemia may result from 2-agonist therapy.

Very Rare: Lactic acidosis (nebule). Lactic acidosis has been reported very rarely in patients receiving IV and nebulised Synvent HFA 100 欣氣寧定量 therapy for the treatment of acute asthma exacerbation.

Nervous System Disorders: Common: Tremor, headache. Very Rare: Hyperactivity.

Cardiac Disorders: Common: Tachycardia. Uncommon: Palpitations. Very Rare: Cardiac arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia and extrasystoles. Unknown: Myocardial ischaemia*.

Vascular Disorders: Rare: Peripheral vasodilatation.

Respiratory, Thoracic and Mediastinal Disorders: Very Rare: Paradoxical bronchospasm.

In the management of pre-term labour, Ventolin injection has commonly been associated with pulmonary oedema. Patients with predisposing factors including multiple pregnancies, fluid overload, maternal infection and pre-eclampsia may have an increased of developing pulmonary oedema.

As with other inhalation therapy, paradoxical bronchospasm may occur with an immediate increase in wheezing after dosing. This should be treated immediately with an alternative presentation or a different fast-acting inhaled bronchodilator. Ventolin should be discontinued immediately, the patient assessed, and if necessary alternative therapy instituted.

Gastrointestinal Disorders: Uncommon: Mouth and throat irritation.

Musculoskeletal and Connective Tissue Disorders: Uncommon: Muscle cramps.

*Reported spontaneously in post-marketing data therefore frequency regarded as unknown.

IV Infusion: The most common adverse reaction of Ventolin solution for IV infusion are correlated with the betamimetic pharmacological activity and may be limited or avoided by a close monitoring of hemodynamic parameters eg, blood pressure and heart rate, and an appropriate adjustment of the dose. They normally recede upon therapy discontinuation.

Respiratory, Thoracic and Mediastinal Disorders: Uncommon: #Pulmonary oedema.

Gastrointestinal Disorders: Unknown: Nausea, vomiting.

In the management of premature labour, intravenous infusion of Ventolin has very rarely been associated with nausea and vomiting.

Musculoskeletal and Connective Tissue Disorders: Common: Muscle cramps.

#These reactions have been reported in association with the use of short acting -agonists in obstetric indications and are considered class effects.
